Serving Port St. Lucie, Jupiter, and Beyond – Insurance Coverage and Auto Accident Victims – Lawyer David Golden

In the event of an auto accident, we count on auto insurance to cover our medical and other expenses and compensate us for lost wages.  Unfortunately, insurance is not always the safety net we hope and expect it to be.  Though Florida's no-fault insurance laws are intended to protect drivers and passengers injured in auto accidents, the limits provided by these laws may not adequately compensate victims who sustain permanent injury or disfigurement or families of victims killed in a car crash.  When this is the case, individuals can file a claim against the at-fault driver petitioning for compensation.  An experienced attorney can help ensure that your rights are protected and fight for the compensation you deserve.

Serving Port St. Lucie, Jupiter, and communities throughout the Treasure Coast, auto accident lawyer David Golden and the staff at David Golden, P.A. vigorously represents individuals in their pursuit of justice.

No-fault

Florida employs a no-fault system for insurance coverage.  Each driver is required to purchase a minimum amount of insurance (called personal injury protection) that compensates the insured for his or her own injuries if involved in a car accident.  The policy covers personal injury damages – up to policy limits – regardless of who was at fault for the accident.

In a no-fault system, policy holders give up their right to sue for all but the most serious personal injuries suffered in a car accident in exchange for the guaranteed payment of claims.

However, if an auto accident results in a wrongful death or permanent injury, the law allows victims or their families to pursue compensation for damages above and beyond the limits of the personal injury protection directly from the party or parties responsible for the injury.

Uninsured / Underinsured Motorist Insurance

Every motorist with a vehicle registered in Florida is required to carry a minimum amount of auto insurance coverage.  Despite the laws mandating this, many drivers are unable to afford or outright refuse to obtain the minimum insurance protection.  To protect yourself against the financial losses that can occur if you or a loved one is seriously injured in an auto accident, it is highly recommended that drivers purchase uninsured motorist insurance.  This type of coverage allows the insured party to make a claim for damages against their own policy after an accident caused by an uninsured motorist.

If you have questions about your auto accident coverage in general, and uninsured motorist protection in particular, auto accident lawyer David Golden can provide the answers you need.

Auto Accident Compensation

A driver's personal injury protection is intended to provide compensation for losses and expenses resulting from an auto accident, regardless of fault.  However, in the event of permanent injury or wrongful death, victims of negligence and their families may be able to obtain payment for:
